I was trying to explain these parades to my wife the other day (golf carts, boats, trucks etc) and I couldn’t. The best I could come up with is. “They are trying to let everyone know they have...things and support trump?”

But probably not China’s which is where I assume these are all made? (a quick look at Amazon makes that seem likely, the first four in my search results all were ) I mean I suppose someone could have realized it’s a better look to have them made in the US, but who knows if we even have factories with the equipment. I worked with a textile company that said they were importing a certain type of knitting/weaving machine which no one in the US had operated for ~35 years. And then it seems like they ended up moving back to making almost all of their fabric, even for premium products overseas.

It’s an interesting phenomenon...
I can’t tell that it’s “orchestrated”. It seems to be genuine enthusiasm, even if it’s manifested in an odd way. There were thousands of vehicles lined up in Minnesota the other day, even though only 250 people could get into the actual event.

Yeah I mean, I don’t know. Those supporters will get mad about protestors blocking roads, and then they will go out and block roads, cause motor vehicle accidents from lack of awareness, etc. but it’s okay then.

Political groupies are like boy band fans , it doesn’t matter the quality of the song, they only care that the band exists .
As far as the these rolling rallies, they are
just like
when cities
have parades when a team wins a championship, these people want to support their team. But it’s dangerous just like when
the BLM people
stopped traffic on the highways
or when
people clogging
streets near hospitals,
police stations, and fire stations
. Humans
get really passionate about their team and then they resort to what humans do best: act irrationally and emotionally without any regard for logic or empathy
for your fellow human
.

There was a Trump parade here last month as well, much to my surprise at the time.
I went out for breakfast yesterday morning after working the graveyard shift. Hit up a small local diner. There were 3 other occupied tables besides my own, a couple of people sitting at the counter seats, plus the cook/owner and the waitress. Maybe 15 people in total.
They were all vocal Trump supporters. Every last one of them. In Washington.
...and breakfast was delicious.

I don’t think so. I think it has more to do with them having spent the last 4 years hearing the other side continually yell and shout and demonize anyone who disagreed. That doesn’t really seem to be the case for democratic supporters, by and large anyway. Which is why people in Europe frown on flag waving of any kind . Even ‘normal’ American flag waving from 2-5-15 years ago is odd to us, due to ‘specific’ historical events . What’s happening now in the US, mostly on the Trump side, seems very deeply disturbing to most of us . The US already had a strongly outdated and flawed democratic system, the addition of fascist traits and voter suppression is making it worse.

Fun, that county is a study in opposites. . I graduated from WWU and lived in Bellingham for about 10 years. I love the area, the country roads in Whatcom and Skagit are great for old car cruising. American nationalism is a bizarre and dangerous thing. I too am cynical about the flag plastered on absolutely everything. When I see it on an ambulance or fire truck, I think “is this in case we forget what country we are in?”. The national anthem at sporting events is also dopey, in my not so humble opinion. And nowadays, the flag with a blue line added takes the cake for a lack of self-awareness.
An old quote or paraphrase from someone or other:
“ When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
Don’t get me going about those flaws - electoral college lol. It’s a wonder this experiment has made it this far. Eventually there might be more autonomous parts of a “union”, probably based on simple geography. Canada might join in, too.
But I suppose all of the flag waving “great again” bullshit is a good distraction from the slowly but surely declining quality of life enjoyed by the masses compared to their counterparts in other wealthy nations.

Over here we use the national anthem at sports when a national team plays a national team from another country. Or, at the Olympics or world cup or something like that. Where teams or individuals are defending the honour of the nation, if you will. And that’s about it.
I do find the obsession with nationality odd for a country where a huge percentage of the population have never been abroad and have no point of reference.
